John Baron MP has today urged local residents to respond to Basildon Council’s consultation on the Local Plan, a policy framework which will guide future development in the area until 2034. The Local Plan will identify how many new homes, jobs and businesses are being planned, where they should be located and what infrastructure is needed to support them.
This is the final consultation before the Local Plan is passed to a Planning Inspector to review its appropriateness and this consultation focuses on whether the plan is ‘legally compliant’ and whether it meets the ‘Tests of Soundness’. The consultation runs from 1st November 2018 until 5pm on 17th December 2018.
John said:
“This is the final consultation in the Local Plan process before it is passed to the Planning Inspector. It is important for local residents to have their say and ensure that the plan is sound and legally compliant.”

You can respond to the consultation and view supporting documents at www.basildonlocalplan.co.uk, by emailing planningpolicy@basildon.gov.uk or by post to Local Plan Consultation, Basildon Borough Council, The Basildon Centre, St Martin’s Square, Basildon, Essex, SS14 1DL. The consultation response booklet can be picked up from one of the Basildon Borough libraries or from the reception area of the Basildon Centre. Name and contact details must be provided for a response to be deemed admissible.

Council Offices, The Basildon Centre – Monday to Friday 8.30-5pm and Saturday 9am-1pm
Billericay Library – Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm
Laindon Library – Monday to Tuesday 9am to 6pm, Thursday 9am to 7pm, Friday 9am to 2pm, Saturday 9am to 5pm
Basildon Library Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm
