MP says Parliament is eroding public trust
At last night’s meeting, EU leaders agreed to the Prime Minister’s official request for an extension of Article 50. It was unanimously agreed to extend Britain’s EU leaving date to either 22nd May if the Prime Minister’s deal passes through Parliament or to 12th April if it does not.
John said,
“I am very disappointed that the Brexit date has been delayed. This goes against our General Election manifesto, and also against what the Government has been telling the public and businesses for the last two years since Parliament voted to trigger Article 50.”
“I have voted against every motion and amendment extending Article 50, and was dismayed when Parliament voted in favour of an extension last week. This is yet another example of how our remain-dominated Parliament is eroding trust with the electorate which clearly voted to leave in 2016. I will continue to do my best to ensure we leave the EU, either with a good deal or with no deal.”
