MP congratulates hospital charity volunteers and medical staff

John Baron MP, at the invitation of volunteer, Cathrine Robinson, visited Basildon Hospital breast cancer unit to meet with the volunteers and staff of BUST (Breast Unit Support Team) to see the help and treatments they are providing to patients. The group is made up of medical professionals and ex and current patients who are fundraising to help enhance the environment of the unit. The charity are currently fundraising to replace the worn out chairs in the department’s waiting area.

Cathrine, who works for Waitrose Billericay as part of the Community Matters Team, is herself recovering from cancer and wanted to give back to the medical teams that had such a major impact on her life by volunteering for the charity.

John said,

“As a volunteer supported by Waitrose, Cathrine has done much to help patients visiting the Breast Cancer unit in somewhat cramped conditions – something I raised with the management in my meeting afterwards. It was also great to meet the medical team who are doing a tremendous job.”

Cathrine said,

“I am so happy that John could come along to meet the team in his capacity as Vice-Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Cancer to see the work we do. He met our front-line medical teams who are working their magic for residents of his constituency and Waitrose supporting their team members to make a difference.”
