MP says next Prime Minister must respect referendum result

Responding to the announcement that the Prime Minister will be resigning on 7th June, John Baron MP said,

“Theresa May has made the right decision to announce her resignation. I remain of the view that she is a dedicated public servant. On a personal level, I am saddened that it has come to this and wish her well for the future.”

“The next Prime Minister must be fully committed to taking the UK out of the European Union, and must be prepared to reopen negotiations with the EU to resolve deep-seated concerns about the Withdrawal Agreement.”

“However, if the EU will not countenance this, the next leader must be prepared to leave the EU at the end of October on no deal/WTO terms. The referendum result must be respected and Brexit honoured.”
