MP looks forward to a busy legislative programme
Responding to today’s Queen’s Speech, opening the new Parliament and setting out the Government’s legislative programme, John said,
“A full and ambitious legislative programme, as set out in today’s Queen’s Speech, is a reminder of the Parliamentary deadlock we have been struggling with since the last General Election. With the large majority from the electorate last week, we Conservatives can start to make real progress, not just on Brexit but on other fronts.”
“In addition to supporting the Brexit legislation tomorrow, I look forward to forthcoming measures to increase NHS funding, to reform prison sentencing so dangerous criminals spend longer behind bars, as well as the removal of hospital parking charges for those most in need. Cutting business rates will help many local retailers, pubs and restaurants, and increasing the National Insurance threshold will help pay packets go further.”
“I also look forward to legislation to prevent vexatious litigation against military veterans, and to establishing a fair and controlled points-based immigration system open to the whole world, not just the EU.”
