John Baron MP encourages residents to heed Government guidance and be good neighbours

MP: my office will do everything it can to ensure help reaches those in need

Yesterday the Government decided to move into the ‘delay’ phase, the second part of the four-stage strategy to counter the Coronavirus outbreak. This seeks to slow down the spread of the virus and thereby reduce the numbers of people infected with the virus at any one time. The Government’s strong advice is to self-isolate at home for at least seven days if you have a persistent cough or a high temperature. This will substantially reduce the rate of transmission.

John said,

“The Government’s science-led approach to this pandemic reminds us all we must do what we can to stop the spread of the virus by heeding guidance, particularly when it comes to self-isolating if suffering from a persistent cough or a high temperature. We also need to be good neighbours in looking out for the vulnerable and elderly, particularly if they are on their own.”

“It is important for Parliament and the constituency office to continue to function as normal. This situation will get worse before it gets better and my office will do everything it can to ensure help reaches those in need. My team and I will be minimising non-emergency meetings and will continue to focus on helping constituents.”

“The Government has made clear that further measures will be taken when the science suggests it will prove most effective. This may include such measures as curtailing large public events or closing schools, but we are not at this stage yet. The NHS and the Government will make clear when we reach this point.”
