MP says we will all get through this together
During the coronavirus outbreak, John Baron MP urges people to heed the official social distancing advice to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives. In addition, those in particular danger from the virus (please see ‘notes to editors’ below for more details) are strongly encouraged to ‘shield’ themselves at home for at least 12 weeks. People in this category should receive a letter from the NHS this week with further advice.
John said,
“The next few weeks will be crucial to control the spread of the virus and thereby ensure the NHS has sufficient capacity to treat those who need it. I urge everyone, young and old, to heed the official advice and stay at home as much as possible. Work from home if possible, and if you go out for exercise, to walk the dog or for essential supplies, ensure you keep at least two metres between yourself and other people.”
“Those for whom this virus would be particularly dangerous (please see ‘notes to editors’ below) are strongly encouraged to stay at home and ‘shield’ themselves for at least the next 12 weeks. This is a long time, and will require the assistance of relatives, friends and the wider community. I have been in contact with the Prime Minister and senior ministers to ensure that the elderly and vulnerable living alone are not inadvertently overlooked.”
“We will all get through this together – I urge everyone to follow the official advice, stay at home as much as possible, and keep calm and carry on.”
Notes to Editors:
Those who should be ‘shielding’ themselves include those who have recently had a solid organ transplant, those with certain cancers, people with severe respiratory conditions, rare medical conditions and the immunosuppressed.
