MP encourages residents to seek support

Basildon Community Resource Centre has launched a help and advice service available by text, telephone or online. The Centre is offering support and assistance with housing advice or benefit guidance, including the completion of online applications, letter writing and queries regarding Universal Credit. “My thanks and congratulations go to the Basildon Community Resource Centre for providing this resource for constituents in need of advice and support at this difficult time. Navigating the various support systems or filling in applications can be complicated, and this service will offer helpful advice to smooth these processes. I encourage residents to make full use of it.”

• Linda (07762 189 698) or Debbie (07526 000 430) can be contacted on weekdays from 9.30am – 1.00pm and from 2.00pm – 3.30pm.

• Alternatively, residents can e-mail mv.bcrc@virgin.net.

• If people are having difficulty obtaining essential supplies, they can register with Essex Coronavirus Action, which is a collaboration between Essex County Council, the Essex Public Health Team and local groups. Their number is 0300 303 9988, open from 8.00am – 8.00pm, seven days a week.

• They can also register with the Community Hub, which is run by Basildon Council and provides support to the elderly and vulnerable at this time. The number is 01268 533 333 (option 1), or e-mail coronavirusresidents@basildon.gov.uk.
