MP: Applications by Wednesday should receive money by 30th April

Today the Coronavirus Jobs Retention Scheme, also known as the furlough scheme, has gone ‘live’ for applications from employers. HM Treasury states that the online system can handle 450,000 applications an hour, and that employers should receive money within six working days. Employers claiming today, tomorrow or Wednesday should receive money before the main payroll date of 30th April. In addition, the scheme has been extended to the end of June.

John said,

“The Coronavirus Jobs Retention Scheme is part of a wider package of Government measures to support the economy and protect jobs at this difficult time. If employers have no work for their employees, I encourage them to make use of this scheme as necessary.”
