MP: Initiatives will help people re-train and re-skill
The Prime Minister has announced a ‘Lifetime Skills Guarantee’, which from April will provide adults in England without an A-Level (or equivalent qualification) the opportunity to take up a free and fully-funded college course. In addition, higher education loans will become more flexible, enabling people to space out their study across their lifetimes and take more high-quality vocational courses. There will also be over £1.5 billion of capital funding to invest in college buildings and facilities.
John said,
“I welcome these initiatives, which will allow people to re-train, re-skill and find new and well-paid jobs – whatever their stage in life. Making higher education loans more flexible will permit people to choose the length and type of course that suits them, putting them in a stronger position and fitting them for the jobs of the future, particularly in new and emerging sectors.”
