MP: Government is implementing manifesto pledge

In line with the Government’s General Election manifesto pledge, the Government is today launching the Veterans Railcard. This will allow the 830,000 Armed Forces veterans, who are not covered by existing discounts or railcards, up to one-third off most rail fares from 5th November, and will also extend discounted travel to a named companion and up to four dependent children if travelling with the cardholder.

John said,

“Veterans of HM Armed Forces have put themselves in harm’s way in the nation’s service, and I am pleased the Government has moved quickly to honour them and implement our manifesto pledge, and it is fitting that this is launched on the anniversary of the Battle of Hastings. I would encourage veterans to apply for this railcard [details are below] and start saving.”
