MP welcomes sensible decision

Following the restrictions on non-essential retail in November, the Government is temporarily relaxing shop opening hours from Monday to Saturday. Although there are no national restrictions on retail opening hours on these days, there can be local planning restrictions. The Government has made clear that local planning authorities should ensure planning controls are not a barrier to the temporary extension of retail opening times in December and January.

John said,

“I welcome this sensible decision, which will give shoppers greater flexibility to choose when they shop. This will also help them maintain good social distancing by avoiding peak times and hopefully easing pressures on transport. It is also good news for shop owners who have been unable to open over the past month, especially at what is usually a busy time of year.”
