MP: Government will support all pupils

As part of a £400 million investment to support schools and young people, the Government has delivered more than one million laptops and tablets to help support disadvantaged children and young people while they learn from home, including 5,738 across Essex. This new equipment follows on from other support packages for disadvantaged children, including partnering with the UK’s network operators to provide free data, alongside a further £300 million being invested in tutoring programmes, in turn building on the £1 billion Covid Catch Up Fund.

John said,

“I welcome these additional devices to support remote learning amongst disadvantaged families – the Government’s clear intention is to ensure no child’s education is hindered, regardless of background or circumstance. However, this equipment is a stopgap until our children can return to the classroom, and I hope the schools will be able to reopen in the near future.”
