MP: Government providing 57 million rapid tests

As part of the first step of unwinding the coronavirus restrictions, pupils today return to schools and colleges across England and restart their face-to-face education.

John said,

“I welcome the re-opening of schools and colleges, and it is right that this move is amongst the first relaxations of the coronavirus restrictions as set out in the Government’s roadmap. It is important that our children receive their education in the classroom, and being back with friends and teachers is also good for their well-being and for the wider economy in general.”

“The Government is providing 57 million rapid coronavirus tests to schools and colleges to help identify cases and break chains of transmission, and this is in addition to the existing measures in place to help keep staff and pupils safe at school. In line with the roadmap, the situation after each easement will be carefully monitored and updated if necessary.”
