MP: Increases are in addition to £3 billion in pandemic support
The Government is delivering the largest cash increase to school funding in a decade. £14.4 billion more is being invested in education over three years – core school funding increased by £2.6 billion in 2020/21, and is increasing by £4.8 billion and £7.1 billion in 2021/22 and 2022/23 respectively compared to 2019/20.
The Government has published provisional school and high needs funding allocation for 2022/23, helping schools to plan for the future. Funding for mainstream schools is increasing by 3.2% overall and by 2.8% per pupil. In Basildon & Billericay funding for all schools is increasing by 3.9%. Average National Funding Formula per pupil funding is increasing by 2.7% and 2.8% for local Primary and Secondary schools respectively, to £4,630 and £5,956.
John said,
“There are few things more important than the education of the next generation, and I welcome these increases to school funding, both locally and nationally. These funding allocations are separate from the three major interventions the Government has made to support education recovery from the pandemic, worth over £3 billion in total. All of this recovery support will be provided on top of these funding allocations.”
“In addition, publishing these provisional figures now will allow our local authorities and schools to make plans for the future – in 2022/23 local authorities will continue to be responsible for setting local funding formulae to determine the distribution of National Funding Formula allocations to schools.”
