MP encourages students to use scheme

Today the Government has announced that 40,000 students will be able to study abroad through the new Turing Scheme. This £110 million scheme gives students the chance to study around the world, including in countries such as Canada, Japan and the USA, with 48% of places going to those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

John said,

“As the Chairman of the British Council All-Party Parliamentary Group – the British Council oversees the Turing Scheme – I encourage universities, colleges and students alike to make maximum use of this excellent scheme. Studying and working abroad broadens horizons and opens doors, and it is good news many places are reserved for those from disadvantaged backgrounds – this being a shortcoming of the EU’s Erasmus scheme that it replaces.”
