MP wishes station every success at Community Radio Awards
Gateway 97.8, Basildon’s Community radio station, has been shortlisted for two categories in this year’s Community Radio Awards for its broadcasting during the pandemic. Working alongside the Radio Hub networking group, Gateway helped to distribute 15,000 radios across the UK to vulnerable people. The station is also shortlisted for its coronavirus coverage, which saw its political editor, Johnny Jenkins, airing a daily coronavirus update every evening for 18 months. The 2021 Community Radio Awards ceremony takes place in Coventry later this month.
