MP visits blaze site this morning

John Baron MP this morning visited the blaze site at the Oxfam shop, Billericay High Street.  He was joined by Councillor Tony Hedley (Chairman, Essex Fire Authority) and was shown round the site by the Essex Fire Service Command Team.

John said:

“Congratulations to Essex Fire Service and all those Firefighters in attendance for managing to stop the fire spreading into adjacent buildings.  This was due to their professionalism and the fact the Service got 50 Firefighters and nine appliances to the site very quickly.  Fortunately, there were no causalities.”

“Congratulations also to Councillor Tony Hedley who was there very quickly after the fire started.  What was also commendable is that the response from the Fire Service was from across the area and included appliances from Billericay, Basildon, Southend, Brentwood, Ingatestone, Orsett, Loughton and Rayleigh Weir.”
