John Baron MP welcomes Parliament’s decision over BSkyB

MP says take over should be binned for good

Yesterday evening Parliament agreed on a motion which called for Rupert Murdoch and News Corporation to withdraw their bid for BSkyB, believing this was in the public interest.

John said:

“Given The News of the World revelations, particularly about phone hacking interfering with police investigations, it cannot be right to allow News Corporation to take control of BSkyB. I therefore welcome Parliament’s clear message on this takeover and the news that the bid has indeed been withdrawn.”

“The tabloids may be under increasing pressure when trying to compete with the internet, but this can be no excuse for practices which are both illegal and ethically wrong.”
