MP praises school and talks of importance of realising potential

John Baron MP was guest speaker last night at the Billericay School Annual Awards Evening, held at Emmanuel Church, Laindon Road, Billericay. A range of awards were made to students across the school. Joining Mrs Sue Hammond (The Headteacher) and the students were parents, teachers, governors, staff and the Rev P Carr, Vicar of Emmanuel Church. After presenting the Year Awards (Year 7 through to Year 12), John addressed the students about the importance of realising potential

 John said:

“This has been a cracking year. Billericay school has had an outstanding Ofsted Report and great GCSE and AS/A2 results. But the school can also be proud of its activities outside the classroom. For example, Operation Seagull was an anti-littering initiative which illustrated the school’s belief in community work. Well done to the students and everyone at the school – it’s been a great team effort.”

“My message to the students is do not be held back from realising your potential by the fear of making mistakes and what classmates and colleagues may say. In whatever you are doing, push yourself and do your best. Continue to seize the opportunity.”
