John Baron MP: Travellers should not resist site clearance following court decision

MP welcomes Dale Farm ruling

John Baron MP has welcomed today’s court decision which finally allows Basildon Borough Council to start clearing the illegal Dale Farm traveller site. But he has warned the travellers not to resist following their use of the courts to question the Council’s actions.

 John said,

“Having lost their case in the courts the travellers and their supporters should now obey the law and move off peacefully. They cannot pick and choose when it comes to the law. If they resist the site clearance, it will be clear for all to see that their approach smacks of double standards: by resisting they once again flout the law, having used the law to delay matters at great public expense.”

“This site clearance should now proceed without further delay and cost to the public purse.”
