MP pleased with progress and thanks all concerned

Today John Baron MP again visited the illegal Dale Farm site to personally thank Essex Police, the bailiffs and Basildon Council officials for their professionalism in progressing with this site clearance. With police officers, he visited the site entrance where the gantry once stood and discussed progress with officials.

John said:

“I am pleased that the site clearance is progressing without any further violence. We always suspected the problem would be with the protestors, which proved to be the case. Once the courts finally refused the application to appeal, the travellers knew the game was up with the majority now having left peacefully.”

“Some of the travellers have moved on to the legal site. Basildon Council is checking to ensure that no regulations are being contravened. But the first priority is to get the illegal site cleared.”

“Once again, my thanks go to Essex Police, the bailiffs and Basildon Council officials for their professionalism, especially in the face of quite intense provocation from protestors during the early stages. Work continues, but progress so far is good.”
