MP praises BPW Billericay and Students
Last night John Baron MP handed out awards to students during the presentation ceremony of the Business and Professional Women (BPW), Billericay. The ceremony took place at Billericay School. The awards are given each year from a trust set up in the name of Molly Perry to girls from the Billericay School going on to study science, medicine or engineering at university. Mrs Sylvia Kent was guest speaker, and described how she came to become a successful author. Events were presided over by Jean England (President of the club) and Sylvia Hathaway (Trustee of the Molly Perry Award).
John said,
“Once again, my thanks go to the whole team at BPW Billericay for their initiative and dedication in organising these valued annual Molly Perry awards. Congratulations also to the students on their awards, and we wish them well for the future.”
Jean England said,
“We were delighted with how well the evening went, and in particular with the number of parents who supported their daughters.”
- The 2012 winners, receiving £125 each, are:
- Lorna Almond (Mayflower School), going to Birmingham to study Medicine.
- Leah Palmer (Billericay School), going to Kent to study Biomedical Science.
- Runners-up, receiving £100 each, are:
- Olivia Worthy (Mayflower School), going to Newcastle to study Biomedical Science.
- Ella Ray (Billericay School), going to Sussex to study Human Bioscience.
- Other awardees, receiving £50 each, are:
- Chloe May (Mayflower School), going to Nottingham to study Animal Science.
- Lauren Farrar (Billericay School), going to University College London to study Psychology.
- Pareesa Khosravi-Rad (Billericay School), going to Anglia Ruskin Cambridge to study Abnormal and Clinical Psychology.
- Hannah Quinn (Billericay School), going to Kent to study Biomedical Science.
