John Baron MP calls for tougher action against Russia involving financial markets

MP says international community must stand up to the bully in the playground

This afternoon the Prime Minister gave a statement in the House of Commons following the downing of the civilian airliner over Ukraine last Thursday. He set out the Government’s position of seeking tougher sanctions against Russia, in conjunction with international partners.

Afterwards, John said,

“The Prime Minister is right to call for tougher action by the international community, but we should be prepared to lead by example and restrict Russian access to our financial services. The Russian leadership must understand we will stand up to the bully in the playground.”
