MP says total amount raised will be revealed at 12th September presentation

The amounts raised by the 100+ charities which participated in the annual Fun Walk in May are gradually being reported to the Committee. In addition, the bonus pot is also increasing in size towards record levels. As usual, the total monies raised will be declared at the presentation on Friday, 12th September at 6pm, where the bonus pot cheques to all participating charities and good causes will be made. As in previous years, the venue is Anisha Grange Care Home, Outwood Common Road, Billericay, Essex, CM11 2LE.

This will also be an opportunity to thank the bonus pot sponsors for their generosity. These sponsors contribute to a bonus which is then paid to all participating good causes on a pro rata basis depending on, and in addition to, the money these causes raise themselves in sponsorship. John will also be thanking the ‘family’ of volunteers.

John said:

“Early indications suggest this is going to be another great year. Once we know the total figure raised by the charities and good causes, we will then divvy up the bonus.”

“The bonus pot is a unique feature of the walk, and our sponsors have been integral to its success. Our thanks go to Barratt Homes, c2c Rail Ltd, Veolia Environmental Services, Hallmark Care Homes, Toomey Motors, Swan Housing Association, Ford Motor Co, IFE Global Logistics, New Holland Agriculture, Finmeccanica – Selex ES, Mr Barrie Stone, and others.”

“Our presentation on 12th September will be an opportunity for over 100 charities who joined this year’s Fun Walk to say thanks to our sponsors for their generosity and to our ‘family of volunteers’ including Barleylands Farm. It was a great team effort.”

Notes to Editors

• The total monies raised will be disclosed on the evening
• The Fun Walk Trust is now a registered charity (no. 1151626)
• Because of the generosity of corporate and individual sponsors, each project will receive a bonus over and above what they raise themselves in sponsorship. In 2013, for every £100 raised by projects in sponsorship, the bonus pot added a further £80.
