MP slams discriminatory immigration system

Recently released ONS statistics show that most new jobs in the last year went to EU nationals. Britain’s labour market continues to thrive, but more than 75% of the rise in employment over the last year has come from people born abroad. This underlines how the EU’s ‘Open Borders’ and ‘freedom of movement’ rules work better for big businesses, who rely on a ready supply of workers to keep wage costs low. As the leader of the ‘remain’ campaign, Lord Rose, has admitted, wages would go up even faster were we to vote to leave the EU.

This morning, the ONS released the latest figures for immigration into the UK. These revealed that the net migration figures rose to 330,000 in 2015 – the second-highest on record – with 184,000 from EU countries. The UK is presently capping immigrant numbers from outside the EU.

John said,

“Unlimited immigration puts great strains on our already overstretched public services and, as the leader of the ‘in’ campaign admitted, keeps wages low. With the Continent mired in record unemployment, many EU workers continue to migrate here.”

“Voting to leave the EU will allow the Government to properly control the numbers entering the UK, lead to wage rises, and will allow the Government to design a fairer immigration system open to the whole world, not just the EU.”
