MP says benefits are threefold
Today the Government has announced a £3 billion green investment package. This will lead to green home improvements, reduce carbon footprints and create thousands of jobs, leading to an eco-friendly economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic. Under this ‘New Deal’, £2 billion will be available in grants – worth up to £5,000 per household and £10,000 for low-income households – for green home upgrades; £1 billion will help to decarbonise public sector buildings and £50 million will be used to pilot innovative approaches to retrofit social housing to make them greener.
John said,
“I welcome this investment package, the benefits of which are threefold. First of all, it will help households make their homes more energy efficient, reducing our carbon emissions and making progress towards our low-carbon future. Secondly, making homes more energy efficient will lead to household energy bills coming down, saving people money. Thirdly, these grants will kick-start a jobs recovery, as people commission work on their homes.”
