MP pays tribute to international health and care staff
The Government has launched the health and care visa, which aims to ensure that our health and care services continue to have access to the best global talent by making it easier, cheaper and quicker for healthcare professionals from around the world to come to the UK. The necessary legislation is before Parliament, and it is anticipated that those wishing to come to the UK on this visa will be able to apply from August. Decisions on whether to grant the visa should be available within three weeks of application.
John said,
“There is a long tradition of skilled medical and care staff coming to work, train and live in the UK, and I am pleased the Government is taking steps to ensure that it will be even easier for qualified healthcare professionals to enter the country. Over the recent months we have all seen the huge commitment and skill of health and care staff from all across the world who have helped us get through this coronavirus pandemic, and pay tribute to them.”
