MP extra funds will help pupils catch up

The Government has confirmed that state schools in England will receive a £2.2 billion funding increase for next year, as part of its £14 billion settlement for schools. This is a key part of the Government’s election commitment to ‘level up’ opportunity in our schools across the country.

John said,

“I welcome this significant spending increase in our schools, which is doing its part to fulfil promises in the Conservatives’ election manifesto. Additional funding now and in the future, combined with a funding formula ensuring that these extra funds are fairly distributed across the country and that those schools which were historically underfunded receive the greatest increase, will help prepare the next generation for the wider world. It has been a difficult year for schools, teachers and pupils, but this extra investment will help ensure pupils catch up and put schools on a stronger footing.”
