MP wishes scientists well with their research
Today the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care announced a new £500 million package to expand Covid-19 testing and to fund test trials using the latest technology. These tests are intended to build on the more than 16 million tests that have already been carried out, and will attempt to develop quick-result tests. Early trials with saliva and a 20-minute test have been promising, and rapid tests will help to break chains of transmission and assist track and trace efforts.
John said,
“I welcome this large investment in the latest testing technology, which has the strong potential to help us get on top of the coronavirus outbreak. Rapid and easy tests will help break chains of transmission, will boost track and trace efforts and could mean that elements of social distancing and quarantining could be relaxed. I wish the scientists and researchers well with their efforts and look forward to developments.”
