MP arts sector makes great contribution
As part of the Government’s £1.57 billion Cultural Recovery Package announced earlier this year, the largest one-off investment in culture in our nation’s history, £257 million is being made available to help support 1,300 art organisations across the country. Theatres, museums, performance groups and others across England will receive a share of this to help them get back on their feet after the coronavirus. This funding is intended to be used to help performances to restart and to allow venues to plan for reopening and also to protect jobs and create new opportunities for freelancers. In Basildon and Billericay, Things Made Public CIC will receive a grant of £122,900.
Lauren Martin, Creative Director, Things Made Public CIC said,
“We are incredibly thankful for this lifeline grant that will help us face the challenges of coronavirus and ensure a sustainable future for Things Made Public CIC.”
“We are looking forward to implementing our plans and continuing on our mission of breaking down barriers to culture and making sure that the communities we work with can access innovative and exciting cultural activity.”
John said,
“Organisations like Things Made Public make a great contribution to our communities, and it is good news that the Government is recognising how difficult it has been for the arts and cultural sector during this pandemic. These funds will be put to good use and I look forward to seeing the results.”
