MP: Government will continue to support jobs and businesses
Following the Government’s decision to implement new national restrictions to help slow the spread of the coronavirus, the Treasury has announced further measures to support businesses and jobs during this period. The furlough scheme is being extended to 2nd December, with eligible employees receiving 80% of their usual salary up to a maximum of £2,500 per month. On top of recent increases, the self-employed income support scheme will increase further to cover 80% of trading profits for November, increasing the total level of the grant to 55% of trading profits from November to January, with the maximum grant rising to £5,160. Businesses forced to close will continue to receive up to £3,000 per month, and loan schemes will be extended to the end of January. Mortgage payment holidays will continue to be available, and there will be more support for Local Authorities to support their local healthcare response.
John said,
“Throughout the pandemic the Government has made a broad and generous package of support available to help businesses and jobs, totalling over £200 billion since March. This support will continue during the next month of new restrictions and beyond, and I encourage local businesses and constituents to take full advantage of these schemes.”
