MP: Funding will support local preventative projects
As part of the extra £35.5 million announced for Police forces across England and Wales, Essex Police will receive an extra £1,160,000 towards Violence Reduction Units. These work to reduce serious violence by bringing together organisations across local communities to tackle violent crime and address its underlying causes, as well as funding vital local projects doing positive preventative work with children and young people. So far over 100,000 young people have been supported by Violence Reduction Units.
John said,
“I am pleased that Essex Police will receive these extra funds to bear down on violent crime which causes harm to the general public and which can rob young people of their futures. This money will be put to good use by supporting local preventative projects as well as coordinating work between different organisations in our community.”
