MP highlights rapid testing for those going out to work
Official figures show that 25,310 people in Basildon & Billericay have received a vaccine, which is just over 26% of the local population. Across the country, more than 20 million people have been jabbed, with the vaccination programme averaging more than 2.5 million doses a week. At this rate, the top nine priority groups should be jabbed by 15th April, and the rest of the adult population by the end of July.
John said,
“The vaccination programme is a great success, and it is excellent news that so many people in the constituency have received their jabs. I understand all local care homes have now been visited and residents vaccinated, and our case rates continue to decline.”
“However, despite this good news it is important to keep adhering to the restrictions in order to keep the virus on the run. I urge everyone to take their vaccine when it is their turn, and also encourage asymptomatic people who need to go out to work to make use of the rapid tests offered across Essex – these testing sites are now walk-in.”
