MP: Essex Police to receive an extra £686,000
As part of the £130.5 million funding package to tackle serious violent crime across England and Wales, Essex Police is receiving an extra £686,000 to address knife crime, murder and other serious crimes. The total funding package includes £30 million to support the Police to take targeted action, as well as up to £23 million for a new early intervention programme. Separately, there is also £10 million to expand domestic abuse perpetrator programmes, over £3 million to expand investigations into gang-related material on social media, £1.6 million to help provide access to employment opportunities for young people at risk of serious violence and £1 million to establish and pilot new homicide reviews.
John said,
“I welcome these extra resources to tackle serious violence and crimes, and the extra funding for Essex Police in particular. These funds will be put to good use to keep the public safe and to offer another path to those at risk of being drawn into a life of crime.”
“Once again, I would like to thank Essex Police for the excellent work they do in our communities.”
