MP: Fast Internet speed is important
The first phase of the Government’s £5 billion Project Gigabit, which will deliver lightning-fast broadband across the country, is underway. This will see more than one million hard-to-reach homes and businesses benefit from very fast broadband of more than one gigabit per second. Project Gigabit will also make £110 million available to connect public sector buildings, such as GP surgeries, schools and libraries in hard-to-reach areas, as well as investing £210 million in the Gigabit Broadband Voucher scheme, which will help cover the installation costs of brining gigabit connectivity to homes and businesses in rural areas.

“The internet is essential for many families and businesses for work, shopping and communications, and a fast connexion speed is important. Project Gigabit is a key plank in the Government’s levelling up agenda, bringing better infrastructure to all parts of the country, and I am pleased it is up and running.”
