MP: Essex to receive an additional £1,334,287
The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions has announced that the Covid Winter Grant Scheme will be extended to April. This scheme has enabled Local Authorities to provide targeted extra support to families and individuals, keeping them warm and well-fed over the winter period, with a particular focus on children. It was intended to conclude at the end of March, but given restrictions on the economy are still in place the decision has been taken to extend the scheme into April with a further £59.1 million of funding, with Essex receiving an additional £1,334,287.
John said,
“The Covid Winter Grant Scheme has made nearly 2.4 million awards to vulnerable households, and it is right that it is maintained as the coronavirus restrictions are still in place. I welcome the extra funds for Essex, which will help ensure the vulnerable in our communities receive the support they require.”
