MP congratulates election candidates
The local elections last week saw Conservative gains across the country, including councils in Cornwall, Nottinghamshire and Northumberland, along with the Tees Valley and West Midlands mayoralties. The Conservatives also had a strong showing in our area, winning a number of seats and taking control of Basildon Borough Council with 22 seats.
John said,
“I congratulate all election candidates of all parties, successful and unsuccessful. Our democracy depends on people putting themselves forward to serve the public, and those who take the initiative deserve our thanks and appreciation.”
“As a Conservative, I am delighted with our local successes which have enabled us to take back control of Basildon Borough Council. A lot of hard work has gone into this, and it is good to see this pay off. I look forward to working with the new council on a wide range of important issues.”
