MP encourages everyone to have both jabs
Covid-19 infection rates are increasing exponentially across Essex, in line with the national picture. However, given the success of our vaccination programme this should not translate into the number of hospitalisations or deaths as was seen earlier in the pandemic, and hospitalisations currently remain low. The Government is expected to proceed with the final unwinding of lockdown on 19th July, but from this date everyone should use their common sense.
John said,
“When lockdown ends on 19th July, as is expected, the threat from the virus will not disappear. However, the vaccination programme has built a high wall against this danger which should keep hospitalisations under control as we remove restrictions.”
“When restrictions end the Government is not saying that people should stop social distancing or wearing masks, but instead it is removing the legal compulsion to do so. Individuals and businesses will regain the freedom to make their own choices, and I would encourage everyone to use their common sense. Those who consider themselves vulnerable will probably choose to continue wearing masks and limit their social contact. Others may also think twice before visiting vulnerable people, as you would in a bad ‘flu season, or wear a mask in a crowded indoor area.”
“The science is clear that receiving both doses of the vaccines gives strong and effective protection against infections and especially against hospitalisations and deaths. The vaccines also reduce the chances of passing on the virus to other people. For these reasons, I strongly urge everyone – including young adults – to have both jabs when the time comes.”
