John Baron MP welcomes job vacancies and falling unemployment

MP: Plan for Jobs is working

Figures released this week show that job vacancies have hit a record high and that unemployment is falling. There are over one million job vacancies, the highest since records began, and unemployment is down to 4.6%. The number of employees on payroll is back up to pre-pandemic levels.

John said,

“I welcome this good news, which shows that the economy is bouncing back from the pandemic shock. It also vindicates the Government’s £400 billion support package since the pandemic began, which has protected jobs and livelihoods. The ‘Plan for Jobs’ is bearing fruit, and the Government will continue to take all the necessary steps to get our economy moving.”
