MP challenges Labour leader over the rule of law
John Baron MP has condemned Ed Miliband after the Labour leader criticised Basildon Council’s handling of the Dale Farm operation. Mr Miliband has said Basildon Council was to blame for delays in the site clearance.
John said:
“A little while ago he was supporting Basildon Council. Now he is critical. He really needs to stop flip-flopping. Does he believe in the rule of law or not? He should stop dithering and answer that question.”
“The longest delay was caused by the previous Labour government when in 2003 it stopped the Council taking action and placed a two-year moratorium on the site. During this time the site quadrupled in size.”
