MP takes questions from years 9 and 10
Yesterday in Parliament, John Baron MP met with a group of 32 students from years 9 and 10, Mayflower High School, Billericay. The students had been on a specially designed tour which was followed by an interactive workshop where the students had the chance to explore a particular aspect of Parliament’s work. John Baron MP was invited to meet the students after their workshop for a Q & A session. The visit was organised by Parliament’s Education Service. The attached photograph shows John with the students.
John said:
“It was a pleasure to welcome the students to Parliament. They asked a number of searching questions which showed they had a good understanding of how this place works. I sensed we may have had some budding MPs in the group.”
Lee Brumby [Headteacher Mayflower School] said:
“Our Citizenship Debating society was given an extremely comprehensive insight into the workings of Parliament. The experience enabled them to understand and perceive the day to day challenges encountered by MPs. The highlight was certainly ‘Question Time’ with John Baron, MP, which left some of our students looking to pursue further a political career. It was a fantastic day for everyone. I would like to thank John Baron for taking time out of his busy schedule to enlighten our young people and answer their challenging questions.”
